For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration.
As for statically compiling the modules in, we’ll need to figure out why that fixes things.
One other useful test would be to try the quicmcam kernel. Simple unplugging camera – unloading module – plugging camera did not work for me, at least not reproducibly. Now reboot the machine with the webcam already plugging in, login and start the webcam application and again attach the dmesg output to this bug report.
